MOC Kenner Ray Stantz Up For Auction/Sale

During 2011 I made a decision to invest in toys. That’s about as safe as investing in late 20th Century and current day comic books. Based on the toys I bought somewhere within me the investment was sound. I could enjoy part of my childhood and years from now hopefully I’d see a return on my investment.
Life moves forward, things will and do change. I look at the toys I invested in and they’re not something I have to continue to hold onto for years to come. These aren’t THE same ones my parents bought me when I was 8 years old. I don’t have an emotional attachment to them. I’ve decided to try to sell most of my Kenner The Real Ghostbusters collection. I’m starting with a big one.
I only have one, a Kenner MOC (sure the term is subjective) first series, US first run Ray Stantz figure. Without Dan Aykroyd originally we wouldn’t have [real] Ghostbusters.
Selling the first figure his character is based on seems appropriate too.
Their doesn’t seem to be a definite source to determine a true monetary value on these figures and other Kenner RGB toys. I know I sometimes paid eBay prices and may not get back what I put into it. A “collectors market” can depend on what someone is willing to pay for something. This Kenner Ray figure is set at a reserve price.
I could have sold it today for half of what I’m looking for. I declined in part because the auction isn’t over yet and I know people are interested in it. If you’d like to make an offer and are an eBay member, please send me a message through the auction.
A complete description of this Kenner Ray Stantz and more detailed pictures can be found in my auction. If interested, it ends on March 25, 2013.
I also have second US runs of Peter, Egon, and Winston. They’ll also be for sale sometime after April 15.

Unofficial Ghostbusters T-Shirts Opinion
It can be a double edge sword for fans and artists. If the apparel companies who have the licenses (honestly without checking, I don’t know what company holds the license for Ghostbusters™ t-shirts) would actually get creative with the designs, ghostheads may not feel the need to support talented artists by purchasing these unlicensed works. I’m sure many of the artists are fans themselves.
I don’t know any of the legalities to what I’m about to say. I wonder if Sony or the official licensee could buy the better (sorta like a commission) designs to use for t-shirts and prints. As Ghostbusters Inc and Sony own pretty much everything anyway they could just “take” the designs. Which would bring up other legal issues. This is why companies don’t take submissions to avoid so called copyright issues in the first place.
I understand too with the unofficial and unlicensed designs why the average artist and fan throws a design together and hopefully makes quick money with it. Some designs tie together multiple properties. The costs to get permission and multiple licenses would probably be astronomical. Which is unlikely to happen unless maybe, just maybe two corporate companies were working together on something. Then they would just make their own designs anyway.
I don’t own any unofficial and unlicensed t-shirts or prints at all. I like some of them, understand the creativity, and eventually may support the artists myself. Especially if they’re Ghostbusters™ fans and/or run Ghostbusters™ sites.
