August 1, 2006 - Site News: Making Ghostbusters - 12:33 PM EDT

Last July, we began working to put Making Ghostbusters on-line. The last update was on 7.31.05. An unfortunate turn of events with my health would take place the following week and the project has been on definite hiatus. Last month on July 8th, we were asking for help with scanning images from the book. Thanks to our upcoming field agent Robert Knippels, the project has been able to get underway again. Without realizing it we began to update and continue the project a year to the day of the last updates. And this time its looking better then ever.
We don't have a time frame for this project's completion. We'll continue to inform everybody of the project's status once we're past the half way mark.

August 1, 2006 - Convention News: San Diego Comic Con 2006 Recap - 3:30 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
We're sorry it took this long, we knew after a big convention like San Diego Comic Con it would take some time to get a report (if we did) from any of our field agents or franchises. Thankfully, Bryan Fear, CEO of West Coast Busters wrote up a report. And as always their success in California has paid off again. Hopefully there appearances will be Ghostbusters International's® gain.
Remember if you were at San Diego's Comic con or watched G4 TV and have footage of any of our field agents or franchises, please let us know. In the meantime we'll be checking the net for footage ourselves. We have fun jobs, don't we?
Update - 3:45 PM
A Bill, were you at Comic Con 06 dressed in gear? Drop us a line.
Venkman71's comic con video, features WCB, our former Southern California franchise Ghostbusters, and a field agent.
One video from G4, showing a WCB staff member. Scroll to Transformers at Comic Con '06.

I don't know yet how many of our clients, Ghostbusters fans, franchises, and field agents visted our site in the early evening ET until around 8 PM ET yesterday. I found out that our hosting company 1&1 Internet Inc. offers a blog feature. I've had a free blog with another company (not affilated with Ghostbusters International®) since last year. I figured I could just set up a blog through 1&1. No problem right? Nothing can just be easy. I didn't realize that the blog set up would redirect to our infamous site, well the url. No matter what area of the site you were checking out. Before I would have lost it, I thought about the problem. Somehow I kept it together and checked out the directories. I made an easy mistake and realized the solution was simple. I just had to move the blog off this domain and as a "bonus" step, reupload this page. Thankfully it worked, as far as I know the entire website is here.
Since GBI and I are paying for another site (what was supposed to be my personal site) we weren't using, I moved my old, new blog there. With all that done last night, the crisis has been adverted. I'm sorry if my mistake was an inconvenience to anybody. In the end no harm was done and business has continued as usual. If anyone is interested in my life outside the company, check out my blog, That's Ri¢h. I know, clever.
August 3, 2006 - Site News: Our Message Board - 11:55 AM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
If my blog problem crossing wires with this site wasn't enough, hours before that our message board decided to have a fit (I think we need a PKE meter) and not allow people to log in. I'm not exactly sure what is causing the problem. At the company we're still having problems. Last night, staff advisor Kevin Kemarly was at least able to log in. So we can only guess what is happening. We'll be looking into this more and if necessary, be making some phone calls. It is really is an inconvenience, trust me. I'm sorry this happening to many of our active members.
August 3, 2006 - Site News: Our Message Board - Update - 1:04 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Success! Thanks to about 45 minutes of research, we found out some of the forums settings were disabled or changed. This was due in part to us trying to "fix" a setting so users could stay logged in, probably 'forever.' Using a security mod, we were able to check the settings on-line and reset/change what we "fixed." We also believe we solved the staying logged in problem. According to our tech support, we were advised that you should delete your forum cookies from your cookies folder (probably under preferences) and quit your browser. From there you should be able to come back to the message board and log in like normal.
We're sorry for these glitches mostly from human error. Its been resolved (we hope) and once again you have a place to be when you should be working. ;)

August 3, 2006 - Event News: Chiller Theater & NY Comic Con - 4:32 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
We're aware that its too early to be discussing possible conventions for 2007. During a meeting earlier this week, Ghostbusters International® got some feedback if their was interest in attending the NY Comic Con. There is interest and its possible that employees, franchises, and field agents in the metro area will be attending the weekend of February 23-25, 2007. More details to come.
Meanwhile months before towards the end of the busy season, Ghostbusters-NJ is scheduled* to attend one of the "staple" conventions, Chiller Theater. More details to come and hopefully we'll see you in 85 days!

Thanks to Troy aka Netsolo from Ghostbusters HQ for informing us that Ghostbusters will be screened in Port Isabel, TX on October 28, 2006. This is no ordinary screening and personally this is an interesting way to watch movies. Lighthouse Establishment Cinema actually shows movies on a decommissioned lightout that was built in 1852. For more information on the screening, admission prices, and the light house, check out there website.

A broken hearted man named Jeremy feels life as its been isn't worth living anymore. Instead of just dealing with his pain, he figures a powerful flute should be played by him, the world feeling pain until eventually the world ends. But before the final notes can be played The Real Ghostbusters are getting pretty busy. Can The Real Ghostbusters make the connection in time or will Jeremy Ragnarock and Roll?

August 12, 2006 - Event Reminder: Gen Con: Indy - 4:32 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Last year Gen Con: Indy was the premier franchise gathering of the year. As Gen Con: Indy was approaching this year, it was only fitting that our franchises and field agents would try to make it an annual event. While we're not sure yet how big of a gathering it will be, franchises* from NY, IL, IN, CA, and field agents* in MI are suppose to be there.
Gen Con: Indy is being held at the Indiana Convention Center, 100 South Capitol Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana 46225. They'll also utilize space in the surrounding hotels.

August 12, 2006 - Event Screenings: Ghostbusters - 5:09 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Its not often I get to post news about screenings of Ghostbusters. Its even less when I get to post news about international screenings. I'm happy to report that Empire Cinemas in Hemel Hempstead is screening Ghostbusters from August 25-31st as part of there Back to the 80s month. You'll also be able to win prizes. Admission is only £2.00! Either way, it sounds like a lot of fun. If you're a fan, a field agent, or in one of our UK franchises and will be going to this screening, we'd like to know.
The next screening of our Ghostbusters is at Arclight Cinemas located in Los Angeles, CA on Monday, August 28, 2006. Its being shown as part of the theater's "21 + Screenings." Which means alcohol will be served and if you didn't know you must be 21 or older in the United States to drink and be at an establishment like that which will be serving (and selling) alcohic beverages.
Why do these theaters always need a theme to show Ghostbusters?
No where near Hemel Hempstead or Los Angeles? Not old enough to drink anything other then soft drinks? Maybe the screening of Ghostbusters in Des Moines, Iowa is more your style. The Fleur Cinema & Cafe will be screening Ghostbusters on October 28, 2006 at 11 PM. Admission is $3. Interestly enough it looks like this theater sells beer. If you're 21 or older, be prepared to prove it.
One of the fans and potential field agent, CrimsonGhostbuster will be* attending in full gear.
*Ghostbusters International® can't be held responsible for a change in a franchise's or field agent's schedule.
Thanks to fans germz818 and badgermattuk as well as protoncharging.com for reporting the first two screenings.

August 12, 2006 - Event Planning: Looking To Screen Ghostbusters - 5:56 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Before we knew of the handful of screenings which are coming up, Ghostbusters International® wanted to have a screening of Ghostbusters too. We still want to be able to show it, in a movie theater sometime this fall. The screening we're looking to take place would be in the Northern NJ or NYC area (midtown or around there). Here's where we're starting this:
We'll be looking for theaters and getting information to see if we can actually have a screening in this area, especially since there are never screenings of Ghostbusters in New Jersey. If you live in NJ or NYC and are willing to travel to a screening, we would like to know if there is interest in a screening in Northern NJ/NYC. Even if all you do is post in the thread about this. However, even with that said, if you know of a theater within the NYC Metro Area (we know, that's a big area) that would show Ghostbusters or are in theater management and can show Ghostbusters, please contact me, Richard Roy.
While we would love to see Ghostbusters from the 35mm print, that isn't even a requirement. If your theater has the means to show a DVD on the "big screen," we can certainly provide the movie for screening. If you contact me, please provide all the information we would require. In the mean time we'll be doing our own research as well. In advance, I thank anyone who contributes information and perhaps funding for this possible screening.

August 28, 2006 - Franchise News: New Franchise - Long Island, NY - 4:27 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Ghostbusters International® once had a franchise to the east of the city. When the location closed its doors, it was an initial loss to the company. What we didn't know then was another team was covering the island, protecting the citizens of Long Island from fake charltons and the supernatural who just won't stay dead. It would take some time, these men and women would emerge as the Real Ghostbusters of Long Island. Lead by Drs. Chris Haritos and Dimitrios Haritos. We're proud to have them as members of Ghostbusters International® and look forward to working with them.
