Site News: The Real Ghostbusters

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 10:13 AM EST

"Valentine's Day, bummer." - Dr. Venkman.

Not exactly a Valentine's Day gift, ghostheads, maskedshuuyu and courage are going through the archives with us. Thanks to them we finally have episodes from seasons 5 and 6. By the time we get around to uploading and going through the first 4 seasons, we hope to have the entire series of The Real Ghostbusters to share with all of the fans.

Event News: Dallas Comic Con - Fan Days - Dallas, TX

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 10:17 AM EST

Ernie Hudson* will be one of the "media guests" at the Dallas Comic Con. Which takes place the weekend of March 17th at the Richardson Civic Center.

It seems like there will be a franchise gathering taking place at the convention as well. Our franchises and field agents from Texas and Oklahoma should be in attendance.* For those who are going, we hope to see pictures, any video, and if you're up to it, a report about the convention and the possible gathering.

Media News: Fort Collins, Colorado

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 11:11 AM EST

Ghostbusters International® acknowledges Kevin Henry aka Boomerjinks and his friends. Kevin and his friends have ectomobilzed a white Subaru Outback. While that alone deserves media attention, its what they decided to do with their Ecto which brings smiles ("Free publicity also?" - Louis) to our faces.

During one of many snow storms Colorado endures Kevin and his friends drove around helping people in need, thus doing good for the community. The Coloradoan wrote an article about them. As Winston has been known to say, we love their style and hope to hear more from them.

Film News: Ghostbusters 3

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 4:44 PM EST

Twelve days after Dan Aykroyd told CISN Country 103.9 radio personality Mike McGuire Ghostbusters 3 is in the talking stage, Ghostbusters International® finally has the time to report on it. Part of the delay in reporting the news? I usually don't like to talk about the "what if factor" if Ghostbusters 3 were to made. I go back and forth with my feelings, ending up with mixed emotions. Is it even healthy to feel this way about a movie? I had come to terms that Ghostbusters, the actual movie franchise would never be a trilogy. I was content enough I suppose to get the occasional new merchandise and enjoy previous Ghostbusters content.

If its true, a CGI Ghostbusters!? Of course like many fans I want Dr. Venkman to be represented accurately. Bill Murray did that both times very well. Maybe Bill feels Dr. Venkman can be represented, maybe even more accurately in an animated movie. Of course that's specualtion.

To have a non live movie (I know, its our business) because Mr. Murray may not want to reprise his role 100% doesn't feel like enough reasoning to make an all (if that's what Dan was speaking of) CGI Ghostbusters film. That might not even be a "true sequel" to the previous movies which were based on actual events. Which if that's the case, I could look at it in a different light. If it is supposed to be the trilogy to Ghostbusters why couldn't Bill reprise the role, in a cameo. Dr. Venkman could be walking down the hall at GBI Corp HQ for example. If the camera angle was right, we wouldn't even have to see much of Bill Murray. If an agreement (compromise?) couldn't be made, I'd rather see Hellbent or some other updated story be made without Mr. Murray. With just a mention of the character. I would still respect him and enjoy his previous works.

Even with all that said, I really like that Dan Aykroyd seems to have a publicaly ignited passion for his concepts and the franchise. If he feels a CGI Ghostbusters is the only way to bring Ghostbusters to the big screen again, that the timing is right for a Ghostbusters movie of this type I'd want to show my support how I could. Or how Ghostbusters International® can.

As I stated my feelings go back and forth. I do know I can stand firm in my decision to keep an open mind and take a wait and see approach.

Gaming News: Ghostbusters Video Game

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 6:07 PM EST

Before the eruption of emotions evolving around Ghostbusters 3, the excitement seemed soley on news of a new Ghostbusters game which was (still is?) being worked on by Zootfly. As we most likely know by now Zootfly had to work out IP (intellectual property) rights. Which came to a halt (at least with it being all on them) sometime before February 2 (I love the coincidental irony) when Dan Aykroyd told the Edmonton Sun the following: "Universal purchased the rights from Sony for a game. I'm actually going to have to perform and do some motion capture for them. That will be next year." Hmm, will this new Ghostbusters game coincide with a new Ghostbusters movie? Or will we just be seeing some type of GTA and/or Gears Of War game engine for an old school type of game? Either way, we can only hope.

Merchandise News: 88mph Studios

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 6:47 PM EST

Remember when we promoted the promised Legion tradeback? We barely do either. Throughout last year Sebastien seemed to keep telling us updates were on the way before his leave of absence. In a move that almost shocked me, he resurfaced around the end of the year or early this year informing us that his message board Weaver Hall would be reopening and the 88mph site would be back up. It felt like we would finally get some answers.

It didn't take long for Sebastien to seem to fall back into his old habits. We were told an update was coming soon. This was about mid January. I never understood in the time it takes him to post that, that he can't or couldn't give a brief update. Something which has been expressed by fans time and time again. Recently it came to the point where Seb took control of his own board and locked two topics on the subject. He did leave us with this, of course. "Update next week with publishing date info and how to check your shipping address, etc. Those not interested in keeping their orders will have the info on how to do that that as well." That was written last week and about 2 days remain in this week if you're keeping track.

While who knows how many of us wait for the tradeback, Chris, webmaster of Proton Charging provides a second clue that 88mph Studios may have helped licensed or did license an Ecto 1 poster. The artwork was originally (might it still be?) supposed to be the cover art for the tradeback. I hope this time the pre-order is skipped on the consumer level.

By the way if you're wondering I pre-ordered from Graham Crackers comics on March 1, 2005. Anyone know how much interest about $30 USD could have earned by now?

Event News: Franchise Seminar (Universal Studios Orlando)

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 8:43 AM EST

Long ago Ghostbusters Inc. and Ghostbusters International® use to hold franchise seminars. I'm sure they were pretty serious with the exception of how Dr. Venkman and Louis "conned," er convinced the right people (we hope) to start a franchise. After the seminars became somewhat less serious, (from what I've heard as "urban legend") the guys had the forsight to market the idea of franchises to more people then they ever could hope to in a lifetime. No, not by putting the franchise seminar on the internet, but by extending licensing agreements and helping Universal Studios revamp The Spooktacular. Many of Ghostbusters International® employees today have never been able to visit the second Spooktacular, including myself.

I've always wanted to see the "franchise seminar" show and since last year have wished for a copy to share with our employees, clients, and the fans. I still don't have a copy to upload, at least not yet. Thanks to our Montreal franchise you can see the franchise seminar Spooktacular here.

However you think of it, its a valuable resource for putting together a Ghostbusters uniform. From time-to-time we update this section of the site, checking links and adding information where we can. As of this afternoon, The Only Other Suit You'll Ever Need...Again has been updated.

Fan News: Retro Ghostbusters II PC/Mac Game Update

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 4:32 PM EST

Sometime last year (we couldn't find the right archive update probably because its not archived on the server yet) Ghostbusters International® talked about a contest a retro PC gaming site held. If you remember their were about 8 game makers who were remaking Ghostbusters. By the end most had moved on, two game makers teamed up to remake Ghostbusters together, and I believe one decided to make Ghostbusters II. The sequel game has been in development ever since.

Today Eck from Park Productions updated the fans with the following. "Van Horne level is about 50% complete. With it completed Museum & Titles. Now running on Mac (Intel), Linux & XP."

Site News: Ghostbusters Cartoons

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops. at 3:41 PM EST

We're still going through the archives to secure the highest quality The Real Ghostbusters episodes, many which we're replacing from previous copies. With that in mind, we'll be uploading the replaced episodes from season 1 today and possibly tomorrow.

With help from, maskedshuuyu we have and are also replacing episodes from Extreme Ghostbusters. The replaced episodes will be uploaded in a future update.

While going through the archives, we even found one episode of the semi-spinoff series from The Real Ghostbusters, Slimer! Which was a cartoon that revolved around Slimer and his friends. The series was made with a much younger audience in mind. In addition to finishing The RGB/EGB collection, Slimer! episodes should add to what the The Real Ghostbusters section is about. If we're able to secure more Slimer! episodes, they'll be up in a future update.

Special thanks to Atomic Purple
