July 3, 2006 - Site News: Corporate & FAQ - 4:28 PM EDT

You would think because it was the 4th Of July weekend in the US that I would have taken a nice long break from work. Maybe by relaxing and doing things that have nothing to do with this business. Depending on your point of view or the workload, a Ghostbuster is just about always on duty. When I wasn't dealing with the standard classes, I was at my desk (first at work, then at home) working on content for this site.
I applied the "minor design changes" to our F.A.Q and Corp. HQ areas this past Saturday. I spent the most time on our corporate area by improving on it. There are new exterior pictures of Ghostbusters International® Corporate Headquarters as well as interior shots.

July 3, 2006 - Fan News: Retro Ghøstbusters PC Game - 6:37 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Last month on June 10th we told you that retroremakes.com had about 5 game developers who were making retro versions of the original Ghostbusters game. Since then it seems three game makers have moved on, while the two best (in our opinion) teamed up so they can make the best retro Ghostbusters game possible. According to Trevor (Smila) the graphics are done, the coding is being worked on by Scottige, and Trevor feels the game should be done soon. They even released the cover art. We're not sure if that's the final cover art, however so far we really like it. As part of it was based on cover art for the last comic book series.

Media advisor to Ghostbusters International®, Robert Knippels gave us permission to post his copy of The Real Ghostbusters promotional commercial that aired in The Netherlands. We know its not the best copy, when a more direct to computer method is available, Robert will let us know. It'll be in our media area once we apply the design changes and further make improvements. In the meantime you can also watch it in our The Real Ghostbusters area.
He also seems to have a "treasure trove" of other media he'll be sharing with us once its been encoded. We're looking forward to that.

July 5, 2006 - Event News: XIV International RPG Meeting Recap - 8:19 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Dr. Vinicius Ayres has written his recap report from the XIV International RPG Meeting which was held this past weekend. Here's what Dr. Ayres had to say:
"After very hard work at the International RPG Meeting, this weekend, I can report that we did a great job. We went to the place, a huge, old school. It has 5 floors and more than 3 courts. A large area to scan and bust ghosts. We faced many strange creatures like "Beholders", (see picture below) a black guy with armor known as "Sauron," (Why does the name sound so familiar? - Richard ) some Drows, vampires, dwarves, and other such strange creatures. Even "Joker" was there, fighting Batman and Catwoman.
We found some beautiful fairies, Elven girls and women. (What wonderful creatures...)
The day ended with many full traps, an almost destroyed ghosthead, (me - who held the pack on my back for more than 13 hours with a maximum of 20min. to rest!!!!) That's dedication - Richard and even placed third in a costume contest."
Congratulations to Dr. Vinicius Ayres and his staff for all their hard work and for placing in the top 3 in that contest. We do hope you asked the judges, 'We were suppose to wear costumes?"

July 7, 2006 - Site News: New Message Board Theme - 12:25 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
With the "minor design changes" going on with this site, we wanted the forums to have a look that would compliment our website. The new theme, Counterstrike: Red is not 100% it. However, it comes close.
Unlike previous themes, we have a lot of custom board icons thanks to Ghostbusters International® Staff Advisor Kevin K.
We're still tinkering some with this new theme's layout. Counterstrike: Red will be the new default theme, not the only theme available. Forum users can still use Note Board. Previous themes will be deleted from our servers.

July 8, 2006 - Event News: San Diego Comic Con 2006 - 2:54 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Last month on June 22 we updated our Events area for July. Which included San Diego Comic Con taking place the weekend of July 20th in San Diego, California. At the time we didn't know if our California franchises and field agents would be in attendance at all. After getting in touch with Bryan Fear, CEO of West Coast Ghostbusters, we can confirm* that at least his franchise will be there. If that doesn't help to make San Diego Comic Con good, it gets better.
A while back Ghostbusters International® learned that G4 TV (check your local listings for cable line up) will be filming live from the convention. This is a great opportunity for Ghostbusters International® to get recognition and publicity. If you're apart of Ghostbusters International® and will be there or you're a fan who may be considering joining GBI and happen to get interviewed by G4 TV (most likely live) we'd love if you plug Ghostbusters International®, talking briefly about it.
And for those of who who can't be there, we're looking for footage of our members, especially if you're interviewed by G4 TV. If you encode your video footage for use by us, we'd definitely appreciate it. Please let us know during the weekend of the con or after by email or on our forums if you can help with that.
If you'll be attending San Diego's Comic Con or any convention, check out our Forms and Promotional areas for things you can hand out and might need in case you end up taking a case while having fun.

July 8, 2006 - Project News: Making Ghostbusters - 4:09 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
Ghostbusters International® decided last year to begin what was a secret project. Why a secret? We had no time table for this and we didn't want to announce something we weren't going to finish anytime soon.
The project is to take Making Ghostbusters by Don Shay and put it on the site cover-to-cover. I had actually began typing it word for word until friend and colleauge Bill Malkin pointed out I could get the same script (minus the notes) on-line. Before that I didn't know and never bothered to check.
We're asking if you have this book and a scanner that works to let us know. We know we need to scan the covers, probably the title page, maybe a few other things.
This may be a long term project, your help will be greatly appreciated.

July 9, 2006 - Site News: Forms, Promotions, Training Manual - 3:13 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
We updated our Forms area by not only applying the minor design changes, but updating our letter head and adding the Franchise Survey form. Since we've been talking about our Promotional material recently, we updated that section slightly and added the minor design changes. In the future we'll be offering promotional posters for use too. Also as the Official Ghostbusters Training Manual is linked in that section, we added the minor design changes there as well.
Speaking of "minor design changes," we only have to apply them to a couple of more existing major areas. After that, the small changes will be added quietly (actually some have been already) to other areas of the site.

July 14, 2006 - Franchise News: PKE Levels On The Move - 12:25 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops
The Onarga Ghostbusters along with many other franchises have been experiencing unusual PKE levels. Dr. Egon Spengler is currently in Onarga for a first hand look. Earlier today (Yesterday, July 13th) Dr. Spengler posted the following:
“I had hoped it wouldn't come to this...but I believe that what is happening is bad. I've consulted with Ray about it, and all of the signs seem to be matching one unavoidable conclusion: Essentially, much of the PKE in Earth's ectosphere is being drawn to Onarga."
The high saturation of PKE stemming from the Odin incident (Onarga's first case file) started a long term chain reaction in the area. Summer Solstice 2006 provided enough energy to bring the reaction to critical mass, creating a positive feedback loop: the high PKE causes slime pools to form which in turn attract more PKE causing more slime pools. Hence the loop for those of you who aren't in the business. "It draws the energy throughout the entire ectosphere to a single point and unless its stopped the results could be catastrophic on a geological level.” - Dr. Egon Spengler "In other words, the Big Twinkie" - Winston Zeddemore
We had been hearing from a concerned public as the S.A.C.C level had been red since last month, wondering if we had lowered it yet. With Ghostbusters International® in a state of heightened alert, S.A.C.C levels will remain at Red.
To our clients and the public in general a solution is currently being worked on. If you're interested on how this developed and how the situation will play out, see this thread for much more.
July 14, 2006 - Site News: Ivan Reitman Called Ron & Fez - 4:25 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops
On July 12 while some of us in the office were listening to our radio buddies, Ron & Fez, Ron asked his radio partner, Fez "Marie" Whatley what the following movies had in common: Meatballs, Stripes, Ghostbusters, and more currently My Super-Ex Girlfriend. The answer of course is that all these films were directed by Ivan Reitnan. Mr. Reitman called in to talk about his newest movie, why he wanted to work on this film and NYC movies. Of course when talking about NY movies, Ghostbusters naturally comes up.
Thanks to Ron & Fez, XM Satellite Radio, and something called Syndication Underground (whatever that is) we were able to isolate the interview to share with our clients, employees, and every ghosthead.
Ron & Fez can be heard on XM Satellite Radio's High Voltage channel 202 live weekdays from 12-3 PM ET.

July 22, 2006 - Related News: OCC Builds Bill Murray A Chopper - 1:26 PM EDT
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops.
I usually don't post non club related news, besides its usually covered by the news sites first. In fact, protoncharging.com posted this after I "broke the story," however I didn't make time to post about it here. Even though I talked about this on just about every one of the message boards. Regardless, here's the deal:
One of my favorite TV shows is American Chopper. While recently checking to see what the upcoming schedule would be, in a bold large font that should almost be outlawed, one name stuck out: Bill Murray. Reading the episode description, the guys at Orange County Chopper will be (have already) building a Caddyshack themed chopper based on Bill's character, Carl. If that wasn't cool enough, "Bill Murray comes to the shop once fabrication gets under way to pitch in and help the guys." Sounds like "must see TV" to us.
The Bill Murray episode airs on The Discovery Channel (least in the US) on August 7, 2006 at 10 PM EDT. It will re-air at 2:00 AM EDT on August 8, 2006. If you missed it by then or want to catch it again, it will re-run on August 14, 2006 at 7:00 PM EDT.
Part 2 of "The Caddyshack Bike" will air for the first time at 10:00 PM EDT the same night. Where we'll see this chopper auctioned off at a golf tournament to benefit the St. Vincent's Mobile Hospital.

We know its been a little over a month since the last time we aired a "new" episode of The Real Ghostbusters. Now that other existing updates to the site are complete, we can get back to some enjoyable updates, under the guise that we're actually working. In what other job can I spend two hours plus writing about a cartoon that's about 22 minutes in length? Exactly.
Egon invents another piece of ghostbusting technology that doesn't quite work right. Not a problem really until it malfunctions making copies of little Slimers who end up everywhere! Can The Real Ghostbusters figure out how to get their Slimer back before NYC turns into Slimes Square? And the mayor is ready to send them all to Pittsburgh? Either way it sure to be an adventure in slime and space.
