Event News: NJ Screening Recap

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 10:17 AM EDT

It took a lot longer then I anticipated, the recap of the Ghostbusters screening/gathering from Friday, June 15, 2007 is finished. The recap is up at my personal blog, That's Rich™.

If you're wondering why the date of the report is June 17, 2007, that's so I can keep my blog chronologically ordered as I may add blog entries from before the screening and afterwards.

Site News: Archived News

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 10:51 AM EDT

Sometime before last month's screening and long before today I was working on every news archive, beginning with January 2006, ending originally with March 2007. I thought their had been updates this past April, reading through the archives, I remembered why their weren't any. I was able to archive May 2007 which brought us up-to-date until July 1, 2007.

Today June 2007 news has been archived.

Franchise News: Who ya gonna call Sydney?

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 7:46 PM EDT

In the 1990s Ghostbusters International® had opened its doors in Australia in several cities. Unfortunately for various reasons the doors closed by the beginning of the 21st Century. Which lead to some really expensive business reports for the company. That all changed when brothers Graham and Glen Short contacted GBI in the 2nd quarter. Which made Dr. Venkman happy and Louis much less nervous.

We're happy to announce to Ghostbusters fans, our employees, and clients that Sydney residents and businesses can call the SydneyCity Ghostbusters at (04) 1800 SCGB.

Site News: The Storage Facility

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 12:00 PM EDT

In what is a continuing set of improvements to make ghostbustersinternational.com look more like any number of Ecto Containment Units, we set out to work yesterday evening on a new header logo...again. We knew new navigation menu buttons would be created and we would add some finishing touches. What we didn't know was that the header logo would go through roughly 5 revisions and wouldn't be done until tonight. "What did you do Ray?" - Dr. Venkman

Background colors reflect the natural look of an ECU. With it, we've changed page properties so text/links are readable and look correct.

Navigational menu simulates the operation of a standard, immobile Ecto Containment Unit. We rearranged some graphic links and removed Tobin's from the menu.

Containment Unit "nuts and bolts" were added where applicable.

The layout is still missing a footer logo, ("One of our little toys.") and will be further tweaked. As always when we make changes with no paid over time, the entire site has not been converted to look like this page. We apologize for any inconvenience and will update the rest of ghostbustersinternational.com when we're able to.

Hollywood News: Bill Murray Talks Ghostbusters

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 1:02 PM EDT

In an Entertainment Weekly issue from March 19, 1993 when Bill Murray was "riding the success" of Groundhogs Day Bill talked about his life, career, and comments on his movies. What did Bill Murray think of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II in 1993?

Ghostbusters - "I can really watch the first half hour to 45 minutes. There's some really, really funny acting. I think it stacks up with anything."

Ghostbusters II - "I didn't want to do it for a long time. Then somebody called a meeting - we hadn't been together since the first one had come out - and we had two hours of laughs, so I said what the heck. But the script was not what I was told it was gonna be, and it turned into a lot of special effects and not much of us."

It may explain even 14 years later why Mr. Murray would want to leave Ghostbusters to his past resume/filmography.

Site News: ECU Design

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 10:18 AM EDT

If you've been checking the site almost daily you've noticed the layout being tweaked and added to What did we do? We redesigned the header graphic, added, then redesigned the ECU meter located above, added the footer ECU hatch, took away some of the "nuts and bolts," added a larger ECU bolt, and added a Danger label. We also expanded the spacing with the nav buttons and changed the layout's background color.

Are we finished with the actual design? I think we're almost done. The last meeting Kevin and I had we were talking about divider graphics. Sounds dull here, it was part of a larger and more creative conversation.

Special thanks to staff advisor Kevin Kemarly for originally creating the majority of the graphics.

Event News: Dragon*Con (Atlanta, GA)

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 10:20 AM EDT

Dragon*Con may be the biggest convention on the east coast during the summer. It hardly needs an introduction, being planned months ahead of time. For Ghostbusters fans into costumes and props along with Ghostbusters International® members, its a great time to be apart of the club. And to have a recruitment drive. While GBI members will be in attendance, corporate was asked to assist with the official Ghostbusters table. We'll be working out the details.

Some things to expect* at this year's Dragon*Con:

ø Ghostbusters fan table with a display of props (most likely replicas) and possibly merchandise.

ø Prop building demostration(s).

ø GBI involvement.

ø Dragon*Con parade featuring Ghostbusters fans, members of Ghostbusters International®, and ectofied hearses.

If all that wasn't enough, it was recently confirmed that William Atherton (Walter Peck) will be at Dragon*Con too!

Dragon*Con is held in Atlanta, GA and takes place the weekend of August 31-September 3, 2007.

If you're apart of GBI and will be there, we'd love to hear any reports, see pictures, and/or view video from Dragon*Con.

*Ghostbusters International® is not responsible if said events do not take place. Or if their is a change in an actor's schedule.

TV News: Reaper (Fall 2007)

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 11:04 AM EDT

Seldom do we promote television shows here. The last time we did that, Bill Murray helped build a Caddyshack themed chopper on American Chopper. We wouldn't even mention The CW's Reaper except for the fact that it immediately reminded us of Ghostbusters. After watching the preview more closely, (see below) its more Ghost Rider meets Ghostbusters.

Its an interesting concept which definitely has to have influences to both Ghostbusters and Ghost Rider. Along with other similar properties. We wonder if the dust buster looking device will be used in most of the episodes. What other equipment will his evilness give the reapers?

If you need another reason to watch, the season premiere was directed by Kevin Smith. Reaper premieres Wednesday, September 25, 2007. Check local listings for times and airdates.
