May 1, 2006 - Business News: Website Stats - 7:28 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Every month Ghostbusters International® checks in with our hosting company 1&1. One of our most important statistics we check is to see where our clients, employees, the fans are visiting the site from. And how many people worldwide visit. For the month of April we were very pleased and excited to learn that people in approximately 32 countries have accessed our site. We say approximately because some people have come to the site from colleges and universities. As well as from the US military. Honestly we're harmless!

We won't list all the countries here. We were surprised by some of them who visit here. As Kevin Kemarly, CEO of The Onarga Ghostbusters and GBI employee told me something like , Ghosts don't know any boundaries. On behalf of Ghostbusters International® we thank all 6,838 clients, employees, and fans who visited our site last month.

If we're able to, we'll list these stats monthly or maybe some other statistics.

May 1, 2006 - Fan News: The Ultimate Tribute To A Marshmallow Man - 8:09 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Many of us who grew up in the 1980s have a certain nostalgia for the era. Especially for things that are "pop culture." If we didn't have VH-1 or the internet, we doubt anyone would document pop culture this much. No one can deny (they could, but they would be wrong ;) that the blockbuster movies, "no ghost" logos, a hit cartoon, and so much more propelled Ghostbusters into pop culture history.

Matt, webmaster of X-Entertainment, a site devoted to the very pop culture we love wrote a new article devoted to one aspect of the Ghostbusters mythos, The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.* We're glad he had that dream and his pillow turned into a marshmallow.

Hey Matt, you might want to get in touch with us about that.

*Article contains explicit language.

May 3, 2006 - Fan/Merchandise News: Ecto Cooler Is Back - 8:28 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Ghostbusters International® learned this morning that Ecto Cooler®, the "citrus flavored" drink made by Hi-C (Minute Made) is back! It had been out of production for a long time. Then returned as Shoutin' Orange Tangergreen. Sadly, it too would eventually be phased out of production. Thanks to Matt and his readers over at X-Entertainment, we now know that Hi-C is selling Ecto Cooler® as Crazy Citrus Cooler.

If you have no idea what Ecto Cooler® is or don't know much about the connection between a fruit juice and our company, we highly recommend you read X-Entertainment's Ecto Cooler Bible.

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

If you read the Events area since sometime last month, you already know your Director Of Franchise Operations is going on a much needed vacation. I'll be leaving tomorrow morning from the tri-state area and flying down to the beautiful Carolinas. I'll be returning to the NY area early next week. However, their may not be many updates until later in the week because of post vacation appointments.

I'm sorry if you wrote me before today and I haven't been able to respond recently. If anyone writes me this weekend or next week, I'll get back to you at my earliest convenience.

Just a reminder in case anyone forgot or is interested. This Saturday, May 6th is Free Comic Book Day. Details of our franchise(s) involvment can be found in our Events area.

Have a great weekend everybody and don't call me unless the security of many protection grids has been compromised.

May 5, 2006 - Screening News: Ghostbusters - South Pasadena, CA - 8:34 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Happy Cinco De Mayo everybody. It just happens to coincide with my vacation. I have some time and because of this particular piece of news, I thought I could inform our clients, franchises and fans.

Tomorrow night (May 6th) at midnight Landmark's Rialto theater in South Pasadena, CA will be showing Ghostbusters at midnight. Netsolo*, webmaster of Ghostbusters HQ will be making an appearance. We're not sure if our California franchises and field agents will be there too. If they happen to be or you're a fan, we'd love to see some pictures.

May 5, 2006 - Site News: The Real Ghostbusters - 12:17 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

The Real Ghostbusters are off to California as Ghostbusters is going to be made. Unfortunately the film making is delayed when a noise-hating ghost is awakened and terrorizes the set. Even worse, the proton packs have been locked away. How will the RGBs defeat this ghost? Will our movie ever get made? ;) We guess we'll need Take Two.

May 11, 2006 - Event News: New Star Con Update - 9:15 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Thanks to a fan and our "field agent" Robert Knippels for this unfortunate update. Seems actor Mr. Ernie Hudson had to postpone/cancel his appearance at New Star Con. The good news allegedly for fans in Holland is that Ernie Hudson* may be at another convention (New Star Con or other) in The Netherlands sometime in October. As we get more information, we'll inform all our clients, franchises, and the fans.

May 11, 2006 - Free Comic Book Day Recap - 9:20 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

We're not entirely sure if other franchises or fans attended Free Comic Book Day last weekend. We are 100% positive that Dr. Kyle Peterson, CEO of The Western North Carolina Ghostbusters made his annual appearance at Mountain Empire Comics (they do pay us for these plugs don't they?) in Johnson City, TN.

From Dr. Kyle Peterson:

I did the usual 'meet-and-greet' with the vendors and customers, handing out GBI cards as I went. This would be me and John, owner of Mountain Empire Comics on Roan Street, pretty well the best lil' comics store in East TN. ("Make sure that check clears." - Dr. Venkman) After a while I locked my Proton Pack back in my Ectomobile and headed inside for more photo-ops....and to check out the sweet comics! After all, I did a 'spook check' when I first arrived - what could I possibly need the pack for?

Find out why he needed his proton pack in this thread on our message board!

May 12, 2006 - Franchise Employment Opportunities: Tampa, FL - 8:00 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

We apologize for the lateness of this as Mick posted about job openings on April 30th. We're not certain if our Tampa District is still hiring. Here's the information from Mick Nielson, CEO of the Ghostbusters: Tampa District.

Due to various reasons, several positions on Ghostbusters: Tampa District have opened up, we need some new employees and we need them soon. All applicants will be considered. Open Jobs include science officer, (guess applicant will need at least a B.A in Science) trap layer, tracker, backup snaggers, (basically ghostbusters) and assistant mechanic. As I said, all applicants will be considered, even first-time busters.

Note: Out-of-state agents WILL be considered.

May 12, 2006 - Site News: The Real Ghostbusters - Citizen Ghost - 7:08 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

After returning from Hollywood with the success (was their any doubt? ;) of their blockbuster film, Ghostbusters, a reporter named Cynthia Crawford is interviewing Peter. She wanted the "inside info" that wasn't included in Ghostbusters. Pretty much the aftermath of dealing with Gozer! Their is more, like how Slimer got his name and how The Real Ghostbusters dealt with their ghostly doubles. Sounds like a real classic in Citizen Ghost.

May 14, 2006 - Site News: The Real Ghostbusters - Janine's Genie - 11:53 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Janine, feeling like her duties as a receptionist have become somewhat boring as of late asks The Real Ghostbusters ever so nicely if she can go on a call with them. However, she'll quickly realize their's a lot to learn about being a real ghostbuster. Such as not accepting genie lamps as part of the payment. What's worse, her first day on the job and Janine picked the one lamp which holds the opening from one spirit realm to our world. Can Janine wish she never accepted the lamp? And what will Janine's Genie have to say about that?

May 16, 2006 - Event News Recap: New Star Con - 10:19 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

One of the fans and "field agent," Robert Knippels emailed us over the weekend with a recap from New Star Con.

Just wanted to tell you that I had a great day at the convention. I was in my ghostbusters uniform and I won the first prize. The good news is that I've heard that they will try to get some actors from Ghostbusters at the next convention. A lot of people wanted to have a picture with me and they acted like I was a movie star. In one word, it was great!

Ghostbusters International® sends our congratulations to Mr. Knippels on winning first place or the first prize. Maybe one of these days we should enter some contests. Hmm. If we get more information about anyone who was involved in Ghostbusters attending New Star Con or other events/conventions, we'll post it here. Robert also took pictures and may be sending them to us. Or posting them over at our forums.

May 18, 2006 - Site News: Slimes Squares™ In Progress - 10:30 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

No, negative vibes aren't helping to turn Times Square into a big slimey part of Midtown. Slimes Square™ has been for years, Ghostbusters International® store. Which could only be visited when one was inside Ghostbusters International® Corporate HQ. Or select kiosks at malls throughout NYC. And the one or two impossible malls to get to over in Jersey. While its a no brainer, GBI never did put Slimes Square™ on-line. Just a small separate on-line store through Cafe Press. Which we haven't promoted uh since like December. This will open up a sales market worldwide and might help GBI to be able to do more for this site and our franchises.

Two days ago our web team began work for the layout of Slimes Square™ (this is a rough layout). Its a long way from complete and we don't have a definite time frame for the store's grand opening. We appreciate your patience and while we're all waiting, you can offer your ideas and suggestions as to what you might want to see in Slimes Square™.

May 18, 2006 - Forum News: New Areas - 11:42 AM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Ghostbusters International® was probably going to set up an Extreme Ghostbusters forum on our message board at some point. With the cat out of the bag (its just an expression) that we're working to eventually put up episodes from EGB on our site, (see our The Real Ghostbusters forum for small talk about that) we went ahead and set up the Extreme Ghostbusters forum much sooner.

In other forum news, earlier this month we expanded our Franchise Gathering forum. Over the year (and beyond) Ghostbusters International® has grown. It seemed to make sense to have 3 separate forums for the different types of gatherings GBI and our franchises attend and are involved with. Franchise Gatherings is now a category after Headquarters. Under it are three new forums: Events, Conventions, and Screenings.

May 18, 2006 - Franchise News: Ghostbusters: Virginia (Richmond) - 12:31 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Ghostbusters International® has always had a rich franchise history in Virginia almost since the beginnings of our company. Over a decade later, Dan Harshman and his staff would establish Ghostbusters: VA, HQ in Eastern VA. Yet had jurisdiction over the entire state. A tall order for any franchise. Fortunately for Dan and his staff, our clients, near by out of state franchises, and our company, a second franchise has emerged in The Commonwealth of Virginia.

Dr. Steven Reeves, CEO of Ghostbusters VA (Richmond area) and his staff are ready to handle our clients supernatural needs. What's more, like previous franchises before them, they're making a movie based on one of their case files!

May 24, 2006 - Site News: Ghostbusters Training Manual - 12:24 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

It began as a tie-in to Ghostbusters. A little book most likely meant for children. Or for an older fan (circa 1984) a nice piece of Ghostbusters merchandise which would become a collectible. The book we're talking about, The Official Ghostbusters™ Training Manual: A Guide To Catching Ghosts. Little did Dr. Venkman realize that this book would continue to inspire young people as they grew up wanting to be ghostbusters. Or adults thinking of changing careers without having to go to ITT Technical Institute. Sure today Ghostbusters International® has extensive tech manuals and training manuals on the fine art of 'busting. What we haven't had to sell or give out in over two decades is one of the greatest promotional materials for starting a franchise ever. Until now, sorta.

Last week we dug through the archives and found a rare copy of O.G.T.M, complete with a sheet of stickers which is still sealed. What does this mean? For our company, our franchises, field agents, and potential franchises you'll be able to see this rare piece of movie franchise history/promotional materials on our site. Once we're able to scan the covers, sheet of stickers, and the rest of O.G.T.M that is. We're hoping while enjoying this book it may inspire as it has had for years.

May 24, 2006 - Merchandise News: Ghostbusters Score - 12:46 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

Ghostbusters International® learned from one of our news sites, Proton Charging that Varese Sarabande still has copies (as of May 22, 2006) of our original score. Their had been a rumor that Varese had been sold out for months. Far be it for us to actually check that out. According to Chris, webmaster of protoncharging.com and Varese Sarabande, their were less then 500 copies left.

Unfortunately Ghostbusters International® learned as of today that Varese Sarabande is sold out. Here's hoping as we said in a past update that they'll do a second run.

May 26, 2006 - Site News: Ghostbusters Training Manual (Update) - 5:34 PM EDT

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Ghostbusting Ops

This past Wednesday and Thursday I was able to hook up my 6 1/2-7 year old scanner (which might have been possessed) and after lots of trial and error (and a lot of noises it made) I got the entire book scanned.

Their is still one problem. Its most likely from how old my scanner is and how long it hadn't been used. Their is something wrong with it and produced some kind of "streaking" in the lesson pictures that are in the book.

Not to worry though. I can get screen caps from Ghostbusters. In the meantime using Photo Shop® I cleaned up the aged booklet and made it like new. Plus adding one of GBI's logos in it towards the end. What's the point of giving it out if no one knows how they can register there franchise?

I'll get the screen caps when I'm able to and put O.G.T.M on the site not long after.
