Media News: The Real Ghostbusters Starring In Ghostbusters II
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 9:40 PM EST
Updated at 3:55 PM EST
In October 1989, NOW c o m i c s who was a publisher of The Real Ghostbusters comic books published a three part mini series for Ghostbusters II. Which had been in most theaters all over the US (except maybe in Jersey) the weekend of June 16, 1989. In this three part comic NOW kinda tied in the notion that The Real Ghostbusters came first with their movie adapation. What made this adapation unique for the time was that the comics were based on an earlier draft of Ghostbusters II. Unlike the film, it includes scenes that either weren't filmed or were deleted from the final cut.
While most of the world most likely saw Ghostbusters II in June 1989, I wouldn't see Ghostbusters II until its second opening weekend, November 3, 1989. That weekend would link me to Ghostbusters fandom forever. The night after my Uncle Joe and my aunt took me to see Ghostbusters II, he was tragically taken from our family.
Eighteen years later I want to honor his memory in one way that makes sense. By putting The Real Ghostbusters Starring In Ghostbusters II on the site. All 3 parts of this "limited collectors edition" are on-line.

Media News: The Real Ghostbusters ToyFare Article
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 10:59 AM EST
In Issue #124 of ToyFare Magazine, Matt Caracappa, webmaster of X-Entertainment wrote an article about The Real Ghostbusters, some of the series toys, a history of toy slime, and interviewed J. Michael Straczynski who was a story editor and writer on The Real Ghostbusters.
While the majority of the interview is on ToyFare's site, I scanned the article at the end of last month and put it on our site. Not realizing that Matt wrote it and in the age of the internets, the article with pictures would be on-line.
If you like seeing magazine layouts, go to The Lab for the scanned article.

Media News: The Real Ghostbusters Coloring Book
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 11:08 AM EST
Earlier this month, ghosthead importtuner760 scanned his once rare and out of print The Real Ghostbusters coloring book. Since it hadn't been used and was collecting dust he decided to share it with the fan base. He didn't have a problem with sites like ours sharing in the nostalgia.
If anyone in the US at least remembers their were "jumbo" coloring books. I do remember The Real Ghostbusters having coloring books (even a local party store that carried them) and vaguely remember the cover on the left. I didn't know that The Real Ghostbusters once had a 97 page jumbo version. The story itself is simple, dumbing down the series. I figure whatever young age range this was meant for, the story was secondary to the main activing, coloring. The easy story is forgiveable.
Should anybody have other The Real Ghostbusters coloring books that weren't colored in or could be cleaned up, we'd add them to our on-line archives. Better known as The Lab.

Product News: Ghostbusters™: The Video Game
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 4:23 PM EST
Was their some sort of announcement from the studios about the upcoming Ghostbusters video game? (October 23, 2007 - "Ghostbusters 2008") =D We may be the last Ghostbusters site to report on the official word. Of course when the biggest piece of Ghostbusters news since the comics officially hit we were in the middle of an upcoming site update. On a personal level, this was one of the busiest weeks in months.
Most to every hardcore fan knows everything about Ghostbusters™: The Video Game already. I think we can still cover it as well. In the next update, we'll have all the information that's available to the fanbase and public. From here until Fall '08, possibly beyond we'll try to keep up with anything that we feel is important to the next official generation of Ghostbusters video games.

Media News: Slimer Won't Do That - The Making Of The Real Ghostbusters
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 12:53 PM EST

As part of Rolf's Cartoon Club, originally airing in 1989 the show had a look at how The Real Ghostbusters was made. It featured interviews with Dan Akyroyd, Harold Ramis, Joe Medjuck, the creators of The Real Ghostbusters, and its voice over actors. The first interviews set up the making of Ghostbusters. Which seques into Joe Medjuck speaking about the success of the film. When you have an international hit that is the highest grossing comedy of all time, (well until MIB) what's the next step before a sequel is thought of? Spin off the hit movie into a hit cartoon series. Its at this point we begin to get a behind the scenes look at The Real Ghostbusters.
I've known and had this documentary since ghosthead maskedshuuyu shared this with the Ghostbusters community. It was going to be apart of our The Real Ghostbusters subsite in a future update. With it recently being made public again, now is as good of time as any to add Slimer Won't Do That - The Making of The Real Ghostbusters to our site as well.
Hopefully Sony will add this as a feature if they decide to put together complete seasons of The Real Ghostbusters.

At least according to Wizard magazine, who compiled a list of the best 50. What Chris Ward who wrote the article might have forgotten about is that the proton pack isn't fictional. Due to its technical and classified nature, we can't disclose much more to the public.

Product News: New Ghostbusters T-Shirt Right On Target
Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 3:22 PM EST
Target is selling Ghostbusters t-shirts. Its a distressed "no ghost" logo on a light t-shirt. The shirt is part of Target's novelty/graphic t-shirts. Before I had seen a picture on-line, I checked my local Target. Depending on your outlook, they were sold out. Target did have the display for the t-shirt which from a not close up view didn't seem distressed. I anticipated before I drove over there that sites like 80stees.com (New Retro T-Shirts - September 15, 2007) would have better versions of the "no ghost" logo t-shirts. If the Target Ghostbusters t-shirt is to your liking, its priced at $9.99 USD for sizes small-XL. XXL, add a buck.
Find all the shirts above are not to your liking? Proton Charging put together a list of places on-line where you can purchase various Ghostbusters t-shirts. Not just the garden variety "no ghost" design.
If you're looking for another Ghostbusters inspired t-shirt, stay tuned. ;)
