Item: Control Lever What its used for: To shut down The Containment Unit. Featured Episode: Ghosts 'R Us We're not exactly sure why The Real Ghostbusters would have a lever which can shut down The Containment Unit. It may be used for emergency purposes. Other controls may have to be used with the lever at the same time. Which wasn't the case when Slimer accidently pulled the lever down, which began shutting down The Containment Unit. He did manage to pull the lever back up, (after eating of course!) unfortunately the ECU was off long enough for three ghosts to escape.
Item: Emergency Generator What its used for: To keep The Containment Unit running in case the power is off. Featured Episode: Killerwatt When a powerful ghost, Killerwatt shut off the power in NYC, The Containment Unit would have shut down in 60 seconds. In all the excitement, Ray hadn't realized that Egon had installed a back up emergency generator.
Item: Voice ID & Hand Print What its used for: Prevents unauthorized access to The Containment Unit. Featured Episode: Mrs. Roger's Neighborhood After an accidental shutdown by Slimer and an emergency generator which was possessed by Killerwatt, The Real Ghostbusters decided wisely to add a new security feature to The Containment Unit. The new part of the ECU has voice ID and hand print technology. This way The Real Ghostbusters don't have to worry as much about somebody shutting the ECU down. Security for the ECU is an excellent idea, maybe Egon and Ray should have added the same technology to the basement door as well.
Item: Ecto Containment Viewer What its used for: To see and monitor the ghosts that live inside The Containment Unit. Featured Episode: X-Mas Marks The Spot
Item: We're not exactly sure what Egon called the "laser gun" part of the device. What its used for: Using The Containment Unit's door, the large "laser gun" device, and the ECU jury rigged control panel Egon was able to be pulled inside the ECU where he visited the spirit world. Item: Laser Containment Grid What its used for: Once the ghost trap opens inside The Containment Unit's door, (once the entry grid is set) a laser grid guides the ghosts to the exit, the spirit world. It also prevents them from escaping. Featured Episode: X-Mas Marks The Spot
