Event News: Ghostbustours To Debut At ConFlux

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 2:52 PM EDT

Ghostbustours (say it fast) is a "multimedia walking tour" of NYC. To take there tour, one only needs use of a portable video player. ie: iPod, iPhone, PSP. When do we get our iPhones?

Tom, Jamie, and the rest of Ghostbustours have been previewing what there multimedia tour can be like since earlier this year. (Please see above.) No date was set for 'the tours' premier. Untl recently.

Ghostbustours will be at ConFlux in Brooklyn, NY on September 13, 2007. Where 'the tour' will debut. If having a personal tourguide wasn't enough, Ghostbustours will actually be taking 'the tour' with Ghosbusters fans from 2-4 PM.

If you don't have a portable video device, they'll have some pre-configured ones set up. They can also help you put the file(s) on your iPod, PSP, or other mobile tech.

If any fans in the NY area will be there, we'd love to hear how the con went, especially the tour. Would anybody like to review what they put together? We hope 'the tour' will be an excellent way to see the Ghostbusters locations and will become an asset like ECTO-1's GBNY Tourguide.

Fan News: Return Of The (Denver) Ghostbusters Screening

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 3:41 PM EDT

Return of the Ghostbusters is a Ghostbusters fan film from BraxtAnFILMs. In more then one way, RotG is different from traditional Ghostbusters fan films. Its actually feature length. Before the fan film hits the internet (without fact checking, Halloweenish) Return of the Ghostbusters is having its premier at the Mayan Theater on Thursday, October 25, 2007. The screening begins at 7:15.

When the fan movie ends, the night doesn't have to. An after party is being held at Brooklyn’s. According to Hank they'll have the entire second floor. The after party begins at 9:30.

Media News: The Real Ghostbusters Arcade Game

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 4:54 PM EDT

On Tuesday, Proton Charging posted about the poster/advertisement from The Real Ghostbusters arcade game. It had me thinking of the good times I had playing The Real Ghostbusters arcade game at the probably now defunct Arcade 46. Sure, I have the memories of playing arcade games, I can't quite remember the name of the arcade!

In past years (as in this century) I had a RGB rom sorta giving me feelings like it was 1987 again. Over time and a then new iBook G4, I didn't have the rom file nor a M.A.M.E program. I went searching this afternoon to see if the RGB rom (and a M.A.M.E) still existed.

The good news is two RGB rom files (a 2 player version and a 3 player version) exist. The bad news for Mac PPC users like myself is unless you have OS X.4 (10.4) you can't run the defunct earlier version of the MAC Arcade emulator. While I wait for Leopard and/or a new Mac, Mac Intel users can download MAME OS X.

If you're wondering, the ROM files should be in our Media section in a future update.

Fan News: Those Guys On Your iPod

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 2:00 PM EDT

The crew at Ghostbustours has put the portable Ghostbusters tour on there site. Formats currently include iPod, PSP, and cell phones. A tour map in a .PDF format is also available for download.

I haven't been able to unstuff the iPod file on my iBook G4. Then again, I don't own an iPod, shocking. If anyone has seen the tour video, we'd like to hear what you think about it.

Merchandise News: New Retro T-Shirts

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 8:23 AM EDT

While looking at new merchandise on 80stees.com I immediately saw that they're selling 5 new and retro Ghostbusters t-shirts. The first is based on the Ghostbusters t-shirt seen at the end of Ghostbusters. Well what it would be like if the original shirt was 23 years old. Other shirts include Mr. Stay Puft , Ecto-1, an Extreme Ghostbusters like Slimer, and a "in your face" Who Ya Gonna Call? t-shirt.

Personally they're not all great designs and I quickly chose my favorites. 80s Tees are good people and I look forward to ordering a new Ghostbusters t-shirt.

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 4:15 PM EDT

Matt from X-Entertainment has an annual Halloween "countdown." One of his early entries is his review for The Real Ghostbusters Halloween special, The Halloween Door.

I was a little surprised that the episode review came so early. Its worth a look and has sparked discussion on the message boards.

Event News: Ray Parker Jr. At Chiller Theater

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 4:42 PM EDT

In a failed effort to be clever and "pull" our visitors in we were going to put the following headline: Ray Parker Jr. Has Chills At Theater. It isn't clever or witty. We also wouldn't want Mr. Parker suing us.

Ray Parker Jr. will be one of the guests at Chiller Theater, taking place the weekend of October 5-7 at the Hilton in Parsippany, NJ.

Fan News: The Real Ghostbusters On Crack

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 2:54 PM EDT

Cracked.com has an article on the "10 most dsastrous cartoon adaptatons." The Real Ghostbusters came in at #8. We were surprised it made the list initially. After reading their opinions we can see why Cracked would put The Real Ghostbusters on such a list. Compared to other cartoon adaptations, The Real Ghostbusters was no disaster and overall didn't suck.

Merchandise News: Licensed Ghostbusters Costumes

Posted By: Richard Roy, Director Of Franchise Operations at 3:01 PM EDT

The other day Proton Charging posted news about Buy Costumes GB domain where fans in the United Kingdom and the United States can buy Ruby's licensed Ghostbusters costumes. These inaccurate costumes would probably work for the casual fan. If you're reading our sites more then once a week, discuss Ghostbusters, its props or already own screen like costumes and props, these licensed costumes aren't for you. I never quite got how Rubie's could make such inaccurate costumes. Probably cheaper for them to mass-produce.

If you don't have a Ghostbusters costume for practically everyday use or this coming Halloween, for about what you could pay for a Rubies costume, (possibly even less!) you're better off putting together your own. It would be better quality and you can take pride in knowing you did it your self.

If all that sounds great, we offer an excellent article/tutorial on putting together your own Ghostbusters costume. We've updated Busts Ghosts In Style today.
