Introduction & Where To Buy A Suit
Every good job has a suit, its just Ghosbusters wear a flightsuit. Made of materials that are not only stylish, but built to nuke the spooks. The original flightsuits were purchased from the Flight Suit company. R&D tested, the flightsuits have a classified lining that shields you from disgusting blobs of slime with attitude problems. And helps you from feeling like the floor of a taxi cab. As an added bonus (and a reason not to do laundry as much) the flightsuits include the Slime Stain Defender™.*
*Pending a settlement over a patent/trademark dispute.
If you're not sure what color flightsuits are approved by GBI, refer to our F.A.Q.
Now you decided which flightsuit to get, but you don't need the top of the line model. Most of us don't have the original plus we don't believe the stain defender works 100% of the time. Below are a few links on where to get the flightsuits on line.
Army Surplus 4 Less and Out In Style* is highly recommended from GBI.
Out In Style: Khaki
Uncle Sam's: Khaki
Georgia Outfitters or Ted's Military Surplus or US Cav.com* or Uncle Sam's*
*Out In Style, US Cav, and Uncle Sam's ship outside the US.
If you're outside North America, you may also want to consider ordering a flightsuit from Vinicius Ayres. Flightsuits available in Khaki, Light Gray, and Dark Gray to name a few. Check out his Paranormal Shop for more information!

No Ghost Patches. Embroidered Name Patch, Elbow Pads
With the flightsuit ordered or about to be, you need to get your no ghost logo patches, embroidered name patch, web and/or pistol belts, elbow pads, gloves, and boots from our suppliers. Yes, some of these items, like the boots can be purchased off line. However we have found you can no longer get some of these things from your military stores. Something about many of them turning into outdoor sports stores.
Katarra makes and sells no ghost patches, our bosses name patches, and custom name patches from her eBay store.
Vinicius Ayres, a franchise owner makes and sells no ghost patches and name patches. He ships world wide and is recommended by Ghostbusters International®. The patches can be found in his Paranormal Shop.
Starbase Atlanta, use to come highly recommended from GBI. You can buy no ghost patches (usually the original) from there eBay store.* They seemed to have changed the patches since previous updates. Honestly they're not as accurate as they use to be. The reason for the change is unknown to us.
*Availability may be limited.
More about the nametag or name patch. This ID patch is embroidered. Red lettering makes up your name, embroidered into black fabric for the background. The lettering for your name (and width of the border) will vary depending on size. Some letters are wider then others.
You can have your nametag made up from a embroidery place. Many can be found at kiosks located at your nearest mall. They won't get why you need one, as long as you have about $15 US, (circa 2000) maybe a little cheaper if you supply your own material, they'll make it. You may also be able to custom order from a embrodery company on line.
The next uniform accessory requires no thought, except maybe for what color you'd like. Gray is classic, you can also get black. Online Sports was* the place to get bubble elbow pads. They're really volleyball kneepads, order large (I know from experience) and wear them as elbow pads. If you want the gray ones, you'll have to get white and then dye them with RIT black dye. RIT Dye can be found in most major retailers.
*Allegedly the volleyball kneepads have been discontinued, at least from Online Sports. They're now selling a different model/style.
The bubble pad style, only available in white can be bought from S&S Worldwide. You may want to contact them to see if they sell the large or adult size.
Cannon Sports also sells the bubble pad style, in white.
Sports Terminal is a new source for Markwort's volleyball kneepads. They're currently out of white, hopefully they'll be restocking in the near future.

Your Pistol or Web Belt Acessories
Moving to your waist, you're going to need a belt to attach your belt gizmo™, O ring to hold your nutrona wand, walkie talkie, and trap holster. Optional is your Life Guard device the company used in the late 80s. I'm not going to talk about where to get gloves, trap holster, and key fobs. We figure you know to look in your Home Big Loews Radio Lots Shack depot.
The pistol or web belt can be khaki or black. Most of the links listed for the flightsuit also carry the pistol or web belts. Below are a few additional links.
Out In Style carries khaki and black pistol belts.
Ghostbusters Props Archives Shop sells khaki pistol belts.
Army Surplus 4 Less carries the black pistol belt.
Finally the piece de resistance ("You know, some French thing." - Dr. Venkman) of the belt. At least until you get a trap. Of course I speak of the Belt Gizmo.™ Its basically a leather tape holder, circuit boards (from a vintage calculator), and a vintage cord. One of these days we'll offer a more accurate type of tutorial.
After all that, the last two things should be a breeze. Once your put your uniform together, you'll at least look like a Ghostbuster.
More then twenty years ago , the Ghostbusters themselves used a yellow hose that's attached from the leg of the flightsuit and could be attached at the other end to the pistol/web belt. In the late 80s when GBI updated its uniform code, the hose disappeared on the darker flightsuits. Really, by then we weren't that scared anymore.* Either way having it is optional. However most franchises seem to still use them.
*I take that back, after how many cases, we can still get pretty darn scared!
Go to your giant home improvement warehouse and buy clear hose. Get enough so you have some slack as it will dangle off your leg/belt. Good rule of thumb too is not to get it too thick. You'll also need to buy yellow RIT dye, to dye the clear hose. Be careful, you don't want to stain your clothes. No way the Slime Stain Defender™ will be able to help you now! Yes, it protects from ectoplasmic residue, but dye...not a chance.

Boots
At last (if you went in order) you need to get your boots. Two decades ago, we were using only zippered paratrooper/combat boots. The good ones run on the expensive side though. You can get knock offs for much less. Although they may be less comfortable. Personally I recommend any combat boot, as long as its close to what was originally used. I used to have an expensive pair of buckled combat boots. They got the job done, since they have buckles they were a pain for those paranormal emergencies. Plus you can't have muscular legs for them to close right. Without modifications. I would stay away from those.
US Elite Gear, browse for the appropriate boots.
Like the sites we listed for the flightsuits and belts, several offer boots as well.
