After the international success of the first Ghostbusters movie, we were able to license our images and copyrights to a variety of business partners all over the world. We still hadn't reached the fans who loved us long before we saved the world. The kids loved us and the time was right to give back to them. What better way then with a Saturday morning cartoon with its own toy line? After a lot of meetings and hard work from very talented writers, artists, animators, etc, The Real Ghostbusters aired on the ABC in the US on Saturday, September 13, 1986.
