Now that we're back at the firehouse, we're in the basement. This is where The Containment Unit is located. After the battle with Gozer (Citizen Ghost) The Real Ghostbusters rebuilt The Containment Unit, making it bigger so it can hold more ghosts. It also has more security features to prevent anybody from turning it off. If the containment unit was shut down, all the ghosts would escape, causing The Containment Unit to explode! And then The Real Ghostbusters would be really busy...again!

The Containment Unit is a type of doorway where the ghosts are released from the ghost traps and allowed to live (surprising huh?) in one of the spirit worlds. How do The Real Ghostbusters empty the traps safely? They pull a handle on the deposit drawer which opens a slightly smaller draw. The trap can then be inserted.
Actually what's going inside is the trap cartridge, the part of the trap where the ghost is. When the trap is pulled back the trap cartridge fits snug inside the containment draw. A storage bin to the side holds the part of the trap with the handle. After the trap cartridge is inside, The Real Ghøstbusters press those buttons next to the deposit draw. This will automatically close the drawer, sending the trap cartridge to one of the spirit worlds. During the trip, the trap opens, releasing the ghosts. Where they're free to roam the spirit world. The Containment Unit will then pull back the trap cartridge, sending it back to The Real Ghostbusters.

With the ghosts safely inside The Containment Unit, The Real Ghostbusters can also look into a monitor like device where they can check in on the ghosts, watching them and studying them.
The Containment Unit has more features which were added or taken away depending on The Real Ghostbusters needs. Check out those top secret features here!
