ECTO-1 is a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance/hearse. The Real Ghostbusters use Ecto 1 as their main way to get from one case to another, even when the job is out of the country! (The Ghostbusters in Paris) Winston and Ray take pride in taking care of Ecto 1, getting the car ready for parades and car shows. (The Revenge of Murray the Mantis, Follow That Hearse) Even when they're on vacation, Ecto 1 can be with them. (Camping it Up) Good thing as The Real Ghostbusters never know when they'll need to take care of things that go bump in the night. Besides being The Real Ghostbusters sweet ride, Ecto 1 carries proton packs, traps, other ghostbusting gear, and even other, different Ectos. (Ghosts 'R Us, The Joke's on Ray) Ecto 1 has specialized and modified equipment to help The Real Ghostbusters track and catch ghosts. Thinking ahead, the guys almost thought of everything. In our Ecto 1 features area, we'll show you what was added and what its used for.
ECTO-2 is kinda like a convertible helicopter. Either way it is a helicopter. We don't have the exact answer as to why The Real Ghostbusters buit a helicopter. We do know it came in handy and made for a cool toy. Ecto 2 can be stored in the back of Ecto-1. Their is a lot of room back there! Once two of The Real Ghostbusters are ready to take off one of the other Real Ghostbusters pull the launch switch, which allows the rear door of Ecto-1 to lower. Ecto 2 can then roll out of Ecto-1, where the wings will lower. Afterwards Ecto 2 can take to the air. Using helmets with Ecto Goggles built in, The Real Ghostbusters can look for the ghosts. They can also do this using some kind of PKE/radar/mapping technology located on Ecto 2's control panel. The Ecto 2 features a type of harness weapon. We're not exactly sure what its meant for. In Ghosts 'R Us Ray used it to try to stop a Full Magnitude Class 10! Unfortunately for The Real Ghostbusters, as they were stopping the major ghost, it caused them to crash. With no way to trap it, Egon overloaded Ecto 2, causing it to self destruct. Don't worry, The Real Ghostbusters will order and build a new Ecto 2. Ecto 2A?
ECTO-3 is a unicycle with a motor and attached sidecar. By opening the rear fender, The Real Ghostbusters can access Ecto 3. We're not really sure why the guys would need a small Ecto. An experiement after destroying the first ECTO-2? Maybe they don't really know either as Ecto 3 isn't used often. It was even a completely different looking toy!. As far as we remember it was only used in The Joke's on Ray. Maybe space was an issue, we feel The Real Ghostbusters would have been better off building a custom motorcycle. Sidecar, optional.
